Tui-Na which means to “grasp and pull,” refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapeutic massage and body work.
Tui-Na is not a holistic type treatment used for relaxation it is a medical deep tissue type massage involving pushing, pulling, grasping pressing, tapping, cupping and kneading techniques etc. to address issues in the body. It incorporates a number of different hand, forearm, finger and wrist massage techniques with a variety of manipulation techniques to realign the body and balance the vital energy.
Tui-Na also uses the finger tips, finger knuckles (joints) and thumbs of the hand to carryout acupressure to stimulate the acupuncture points on the body, as such performing acupuncture without the need for needling.
Tui-Na is very good for the treatment of all musculoskeletal problems, relieving joint pain, reducing swelling, relaxation of muscle, improving the circulation through invigorating the Qi ( vital body energy) the blood and the bodily fluids. The Tui-Na manipulations are also useful for correcting joint problems through passive manipulation.
